Water Quality and Conservation

MISSION

The Water Quality and Conservation Committee has been focused on exploring alternative ways to source and efficient ways to maintain potable water for the Quonnie Neck’s population, reviewing past efforts and current options. With this in mind, the Committee also aims to increase awareness and understanding about issues and threats to Quonnie water which include the aquifer, Ocean, Quonochontaug Pond and Fresh Pond. By aligning resources across the Quonnie communities that abut these precious resources, the Committee is considering environmental developments and utilization patterns that can impact water quality and availability on the Quonnie peninsula. Through our programing, we seek ways to educate residents and implement strategies for conservation of this resource.
