We are excited to share the 2026 Summer Nature Checklist for kids — a fun way for children and families to explore the incredible ecosystems that make Quonnie so special.
From piping plovers and horseshoe crabs to dragonflies, dune grass, and sunsets over the pond, the checklist is designed to encourage curiosity, observation, and connection with the natural world all around us. Water Conservation is Critical this Summer!
Quonnie remains in drought as summer heat strains already low aquifer and well levels, making water conservation especially important. You can make an impact to conserve water in Quonnie! Please consider these recommendations to limit your outdoor water use:
- Water only when needed, using hand-held hoses or smart controllers
- Avoid runoff onto roads and driveways
- Water early or late to limit evaporation
- Choose native, drought-tolerant plants
- Collect rainwater, mulch, compost, and consider rain gardens

You can also proudly display a water conservation sign on your property. Email info@quonnie-qcc.org and we’ll drop off a yard and/or shower sign!
