MISSION

The Dark Sky Committee is dedicated to preserving Quonnie’s beautiful night sky by providing information and resources about dark sky friendly outdoor lighting, energy conservation, the health benefits of reduced light pollution, and local stargazing opportunities.

EVENTS

Events – Planned for 2025

• Heroes, Gods & Monsters – the Myths Behind the Constellations Part II
  Bill Steinman will return to tell more family-friendly stories behind the summer sky’s constellations. This event will take place on July 15th near the East Beach main boardwalk (weather permitting); Quonnie Grange in case of inclement weather.

Events – 2024

• Heroes, Gods, & Monsters – the Myths Behind the Constellations Part I
  Spot summer’s constellations and learn about the stories they tell. Led by Bill Steinman, this event is open to all ages, but the content will be kid friendly. We will talk about the Greek mythology behind the constellations, and start locating them when the stars come out. (Due to inclement weather, we will move our story-telling to the Grange).
