On June 16th, 2024, the Quonnie Gardens and Landscapes committee hosted its first Native Plant “Pop-up” event by the Central Beach ball field. We were excited to chat with our fellow Quonnie gardeners about ways to make our gardens and landscapes cleaner, quieter, and more inviting to humans, pollinators, and our other natural neighbors. We provided informative handouts and displays and answered questions about:

• The power of Native Plants
• Promoting Pollinators
• Invasive Plants common in Quonnie
• Community Composting pilot program
• A natural tactic for reducing mosquitoes in our yards

Additionally, we gave away several free items including native plants, Mosquito Dunk® samples, QCC compost collection bins and yard signs to promote water conservation and pesticide-free lawns.
