Quonnie Gardens and Landscapes

MISSION

The Gardens and Landscapes Committee will promote the design and maintenance of Quonnie lawns, landscapes and gardens in harmony with natural processes. We will provide guidance and resources regarding native and drought-resistant plants, soil health, biodiversity, invasive species, pollution-free landscaping and other sustainable gardening practices.

Events – Planned for 2025

  • Discussion with Invasive Plant Expert Kate Hardesty. Kate Hardesty from the URI Cooperative Extension will lead a discussion and Q&A on invasive plants found on the Quonnie neck, mitigation strategies, edible invasive plants, and more. July 10th at the Quonnie Grange, 7:00 p.m.
  • Movie Night (Movie TBD). August 14th at the Quonnie Grange, 7:00 p.m.

  • Native Plant Pop-up Event (16Jun2024)
  • Doug Tallamy’s Nature’s Best Hope: Video presentation and Q&A with Beth Capaldi, Bucknell University Biologist and Quonnie Summer Resident. As a leading advocate for native plant gardening, Tallamy demonstrates how we can enhance biodiversity in our own backyards. Beth shared her expertise on native bees and answered audience questions.   • Kiss The Ground Screening. Documentary film about how the Earth’s soil may be key to combating climate change and preserving the planet. Watch the movie TRAILER HERE.
